Side Bets Are For Suckers Poker is an intellectual game that requires complete concentration. While the jury is still out on the exact proportion of skill to luck, most people agree that good poker playing takes a heady amount of knowledge. Poker side bets, however, are the antithesis of the great genius of poker. To put it bluntly, poker side bets are for suckers. The thing about poker side bets is that they rely almost exclusively on luck. There is no skill involved in these carnival attractions. At the best, they simply serve as a waste of money. In their worst forms, these side bets can become so consuming that they wretch focus away from your poker online game. There is no excuse not to be completely focused when you play poker. Casinos know that a quick game of chance is an alluring attraction to mind weary poker players. They know our weaknesses. Don’t let them use our mental strain against us. If you need a break, walk around, stand up, and stretch. Do anything but sign up for the money wasting side bet. The worst thing that you could do would be to let your opponents and your casino that you are sucker who couldn’t resist a side bet.
