When are You Getting Married?

Published on July 31, 2008

If you are in a relationship that has lasted longer than six months, chances are you will start hearing this question soon, if you haven’t heard it already. Most of the time it will come from nosey relatives or from caring friends, but no matter who it comes from, it can be quite annoying. While it is nice to think of yourself marrying Mr. or Miss Right, there is no reason to rush things.

Marriage is such an intense and important thing to uphold, you really cannot afford to get it wrong! So, before you start stressing on how often your family and friends ask you when the big date is, you should know what you want. Of course, if you have been dating for years, and there is still no talk of marriage, you might want to sit your partner down to chat about your future together.

Overall, you should just blow this question off with a sarcastic answer like “In 35 years!” to get your friends and family to leave you alone for the moment. If your partner is near, he or she will likely appreciate you addressing the issue with humor as well. After all, what you decide to do as a couple is really only your business.
